About Us

This is my story.

Cycling has always played a big part in my life and always will. It has taken me all over the world and I have met some amazing characters along the way.

Jimmy George

1992

11 years old and watched Chris Boardman win the Olympic pursuit on the legendary Lotus Sport bike. Inspired by Chris I saved up and brought my first road bike. A second hand Raleigh for ú85

1994

Watched Chris win the Tour de France prologue and take the yellow jersey. The tour then visited the UK where I watched my first bike race.

Later that year I joined my local cycling club Southborough & District Wheelers

1995-1998

Continued to be inspired by Chris Boardman along with other great British riders of the time including Graham Obree and Sean Yates.

Competed at a high standard in time trials including winning the Kent Junior Best all rounder three times, 4th in the National series Championships and competed in numerous National Championships; competing against the likes of a young Bradley Wiggins and Steven Cummings.

1999 - 2000

I began Belgian road racing and joined my first team, Renners Cycling Team. Competed in South East Road and London road races building up from a Cat 4 to Cat one. Spent two months living with a German family in Achen racing in Elite and Under 23 Belgium and German kermesses.

2001

19 years old and I moved to Ghent Belgium to seek my dream of becoming a professional. I joined Kingsnorth International Wheelers that gave me a steppingstone to the European race scene.

This year was a baptism of fire, cycling can be brutal and this year I became a man. I learnt the hard way that cycling isnÆt just about the bike. Despite the challenges of that first year I still got starts at Under 23 inter club classics including Tour of Flanders, Het Volk and Hassel Spa Hassel where I met my good friends the Van der Wieler Family.

2002

My second year in Belgium the Van der Weiler family set me up with new accommodation and a friend helped me find a team that would offer me the support I needed. I signed with Royal Antwerp Bicycle Club and this time fully sponsored and supported competed in more inter clubs and filling in between with kermesses. This season I built up to Elite and raced in the British National Championship.

2003

My 3rd and final season in Belgium I signed with new team Onder ons Parkie as team leader. Stronger, slightly wealthier I was able to afford my own transport and able to travel to more major races including races in Germany, France and Holland.

When the biggest race of my life to date was one week away (the Under 23 version of Paris Roubaix) I suffered a crash and fractured my pelvis. Out for 3 months I struggled to find any form for the rest of the season. Depressed, frustrated, but highly educated in road cycling I returned to Britain to think about my future as a rider.

I could write a book about the 3 years I spent in Belgium. It made me the person I am today and educated me deeply on what cycling is about. To sum up these three years I would describe them as brutal, exhilarating, amazing, sometimes lonely and depressing but ultimately life changing!

2004

As the winter passed I knew I didnÆt have the physical and mental ability to be a professional full time rider. I thought (after lots of beer) that I wanted to use my experiences to develop as an athlete. I ended the professional cycling dream and got a job back in the UK, aged 22. I then entered my first triathlon knowing that I was unable to swim 25 meters. I thought this was a good idea! After a little training for running and swimming I finished my first sprint triathlon in 33rd place out of 500.

2005 - 2007

I continued to compete in triathlon and in my second season of racing, I qualified and was selected to race for the Great Britain age group team at the European and World Duathlon Championships. In 2005 I qualified and competed at the World Age Group Triathlon Championships.
